Digital labeling systems do not save consumers from counterfeit products

For about a quarter of a century, the Soviet Union had a single “labeling system” that evokes the trust of all consumers — the “USSR Quality Mark”. A domestic innovation, the “Honest Sign”, is currently designed to replace it. As the developers of the modern system say, it is capable of being a guarantor of product quality and safety. Let’s try to figure out if this is really the case.

Experience in verifying reporting on greenhouse gas emissions from gas producing enterprises within the Sakhalin project

The prevailing opinion at present is the recognition of greenhouse gases emitted from industrial and economic activities responsible for climate change on the planet. The climate agenda is relevant for the most developed countries of the world and there is already a certain pool of measures designed to encourage individual companies, states and regions to reduce greenhouse gas emissions. The most actively developing mechanisms are the carbon tax and the carbon unit market and related activities for the verification of greenhouse gas reports and validation of climate projects.

Ambivalence of equivalent standards

The appearance of more advanced testing/measuring equipment, new techniques, stricter standards creates inevitable difficulties for accredited persons, which is why they are chronically lagging behind the fleeing technological progress. To a greater extent, this problem concerns accredited testing laboratories (centers), which, in order to apply modern testing tools and methods, need to make appropriate changes in their areas of accreditation in advance. Although in most cases, with rational planning, the impact of such a pattern on the workflow can be minimized, some elements of the ongoing transformations create unnecessary administrative barriers.

Tools to optimize the accreditation preparation process through remote assessment

The possibility of accreditation in a remote format, especially relevant recently, allows the applicant to be assessed for compliance with the accreditation criteria without going to the place of activity. The article discusses the application of the TrueConf application, Gantt chart and digital Kanban board in the Trello program to optimize the process of preparing and conducting accreditation by remote evaluation using the example of a specific testing laboratory.

Keywords laboratory, accreditation, preparation, optimization, remote assessment, video conferencing, Gantt chart, Kanban board

Method for controlling porosity in “Rossiyskiy” cheese

The results of research for the development of an instrumental method for controlling the pattern of cheeses molded in bulk are presented. The method is based on determining the pore volume by the difference in the specific volumes of cheese samples with and without eyes (round holes), followed by calculating the proportion of pore volume in the specific volume of the sample with eyes. The porosity index determined by this method is recommended to be used as an additional criterion for the organoleptic assessment of the pattern — an important element of a comprehensive assessment of the quality of cheeses.

Keywords: cheese, pattern, eye volume, porosity coefficient

Reference materials of the coal composition and products of its extraction and processing. Part 1

Coals and their processed products are heterogeneous, often unstable materials. The accumulation of waste from their production and consumption in the last few decades has been taking place at an unprecedented pace. The proposed review article substantiates the need to develop high-precision techniques and reference materials for quality and safety control of coal and its mining waste, including in the processes of converting ash and slag waste into raw material. The basic principles and stages of metrological assurance of quality and safety indicators of coals and products of their extraction and processing are considered. The specifics of the development and certification of reference materials in this area are indicated.

Keywords: rock, coal, coal mining, processing and burning waste, ash and slag waste, reference materials

Industry 4.0 technologies for quality control of aviation equipment

The introduction of modern digital technologies in various industries is accompanied by the emergence of new concepts for the manufacture and operation of high-tech products. One of such concepts is Quality 4.0, which provides for the use of innovative technologies to improve the quality level of the products being developed. The philosophy of the Quality 4.0 concept is a set of traditional methods and approaches optimized and modified with the help of modern digital technologies. A striking example of the application of the concept in the foreseeable future will be the digital twin of aviation technology.

Environmental monitoring as a basis for environmental management system

The author suggests applying the PDCA approach, on which the ISO 14001 standard is based, directly to environmental monitoring both within the framework of the environmental management system (EMS) and within the operational activities of the enterprise.

Keywords: environmental monitoring, environmental management, sustainable development, ecology, environmental protection
