Discussions on the essence of the fundamental concepts largely serve as a driver of science and practice, determining the direction of their development. In quality management these basic concepts include «value» and «quality»: the first of them is the goal of management, the second is a characteristic of its object. But is it legitimate to consider these interrelated and interdependent concepts as identical, interchangeable? Vladimir Shper, a Member of the MMQ Editorial and expert Board, ponders over such a seemingly unexpected proposal by the American researcher William Levinson.
