"THE CONSULTANT SHOULD HEAR THE CUSTOMER AND UNDERSTAND THE CONTEXT"

In the professional community of quality specialists, the role of management consulting in improving an organization is perceived ambiguously. What do business executives see as the value of consulting services? What are the powers and responsibilities of a consultant? And in general, does the company need to involve external experts in improvement activities or is it better to entrust this work to internal teams? We decided to talk about this with Alexander N. Grachev, the General Director of the Center Prioritet LLC — one of the most respected consulting companies in the field of quality management and improvement of production systems.

HOW TO TURN FROM THE PILOT PRODUCTION INTO THE SERIAL PLANT

The success of modern business largely depends on the speed and efficiency of its transformation. Such a transformation can be forced (as a reaction to market demands) or proactive (as an optimization of the internal capabilities of the enterprise). The harmonious combination of these two components can produce extraordinary results, especially for companies that are in the import substitution zone. This case is about how competent planning of strategy, tactics and operational activities, combined with training staff in standardized work, allowed the enterprise to become successful and reach a qualitatively new level of development.

What is the ultimate value of the activities of the specialists involved? And on the contrary, what risks can be associated with this? MASTER DATA NORMALIZATION: THE INITIAL STEP TO LEAN MANAGEMENT

Master data (MD) is the information from directories, classifiers, and electronic catalogs created by organizations. However, the nomenclature reference books, which an organization uses to record and purchase inventory items and also form its price lists, often contain significant errors. Because of this, millions of rubles from the company’s budget are wasted, and the opportunities for promoting its own products on the market are significantly narrowed. What are these errors and why do they occur? How to eliminate and prevent their occurrence by normalizing the reference data? And most importantly, what is the effect of such corrective actions on customers and suppliers?

ON THE FORMULATION OF NONCONFORMITIES IN THE MANAGEMENT SYSTEMS AUDITING. PART 2

When analyzing audit practice over the years, the author often comes across some typical mistakes made when formulating inconsistencies. The purpose of this publication is to explain by concrete examples the methodological groundlessness of such formulations. Let’s remind that in the first part of the article, unjustified inconsistencies were considered, which in principle cannot be recognized as such. In the second part, we will talk about inconsistencies that are mistakenly attributed to the wrong requirements, to the wrong standards, as well as those that are unreasonably not recognized as critical and, conversely, declared critical without sufficient grounds.
