ISO 9001/AMD 1:2024: HOW TO MEET ADDITIONAL REQUIREMENTS

In February 2024, ISO released an updated version of ISO 9001:2015/Amd 1:2024 to include new provisions related to climate change. Almost simultaneously, the IAF issued a set of memorandums which essentially directed the immediate implementation of these additions. It is not clear from the IAF documents how to do this, but it is implied that certification bodies should review their implementation during the next audit, even if it is scheduled for next week. How can a company prepare for the auditors’ visit as soon as possible?

GOST R ISO 500012023: ONCE AGAIN ABOUT TRANSLATION IMPRECISIONS

Almost ten years ago, in an article devoted to mistakes in the translation of GOST R ISO 50001—2012, the author drew the attention of Rosstandart to the threat of a continuous increase in the number of incorrect translations of international standards into Russian, which nevertheless received official status. The author made a new similar appeal in the summer of 2023 in an open letter, which cited hundreds of errors in the translations of GOST R ISO/IEC 17021- 1—2017 and GOST R ISO 19011—2021. Unfortunately, over the past time, no fundamental changes have occurred in this issue, as evidenced by the next national standard GOST R ISO 50001—2023.

LEAN PRODUCTION AND MODERN CLINICAL PRACTICE: REFLECTIONS OF THE GRATEFUL PATIENT

Having found himself on the surgical table after an attack of cholecystitis, the author unexpectedly saw an analogy between the process of surgery in the clinic and the processes in the lean production system. This note is devoted to reflections on this analogy and the conclusions arising from it. In particular, the author realized that management in medicine is much more complex than industrial management, and that the idea of continuous improvement is making its way into a wide variety of areas of human activity, apparently due to the natural desire for excellence innate to people. And this inspires hope for a mankind thriving.
