REGULAR MANAGEMENT PRACTICES: VISUAL MANAGEMENT

Abstract. Recently, there has been a lot of talk and writing about visual management, and this is no coincidence: it is estimated that up to 90% of all information a person receives through the visual process. At the same time, the application by Russian business of this practice of regular management (RPM) remains incomplete. Understanding the value and essence of visual management in general, enterprises often face the inability of managers at the grassroots and middle levels to regularly work with a common visual space, with a lack of understanding of the importance of synchronizing information about the state of processes in the value stream. How this RPM can become more effective and on whom it depends, we’ll discuss in this article.

VISUALIZATION BOARDS: INCREASING THE TEAM EFFECTIVENESS

Abstract. The visualization board is a quick and ocular tool for feedback and operational configuration of the control system. It makes it possible to involve literally all employees in improvement work, allows them to understand correctly their current tasks and their priority, promptly monitor the current parameters of the production process and deviations from their normal values, perform their correction promptly eliminating identified problems. Thus, visualization boards contribute to implementation of the built-in-quality method and, as a result, the continual improvement principle directly during the process.

PATTERNS FOR VISUAL MANAGEMENT IN INDUSTRY 4.0

Abstract. Currently, the collection and processing of data on the state of production in most large enterprises is carried out on the basis of digital systems such as ERP, MES, CAD, PPC, etc. Their latest versions are enriched with new options, including visualization of the main and auxiliary processes. At the same time, Industry 4.0 technologies open up fundamentally new opportunities in this area. In this article was considered a number of universal visual models (patterns) that make it possible to most efficiently solve production management problems that enterprises in various industries often face.

THE SPLENDORS AND MISERIES OF OF MANAGEMENT SYSTEMS STANDARDS

Abstract. The quarter of a century that I have devoted to professional pursuits related to the formation of standardized management systems is a sufficient period to speculate on this topic. Over the years, these standards have first developed in parallel, then unified, merging into something with a common structure, and finally transformed into documents whose scope has gone beyond the boundaries of individual organizations. At the same time, there was a rapid increase in the popularity of standards among organizations wishing to obtain a certificate of conformity, which was replaced by disappointment and a decrease in interest in them in many countries.

AWARENESS AND INVOLVEMENT OF STAFF IN THE QMS: HOW CAN I INCREASE THEM?

Abstract. Since the very foundation of the MMQ journal — for more than half a century — the editorial board has consistently maintained feedback from readers — specialists in quality. Their experience is extremely important to their colleagues — no doubt they will be able to learn a lot from it to improve their own practices. Therefore, we readily publish materials authored by representatives of real business. The proposed article also belongs to this category. In it, Yulia E. Vichkanova, the QMS specialist at Perspektivnye Tekhnologii LLC (Kemerovo), shares her vision of ways to solve the problem of QMS effectiveness.

Abstract. Issues of the quality of education and training of specialists are important not only for individual organizations, since the results of all activities depend on the level of their knowledge and skills, but also for the country’s economy as a whole. These same issues fall within the sphere of interests of every person — both as a professional focused on maintaining his own competence, and as a person interested in getting a good education for his children. However, despite the urgency of the issue, there are not many publications on this topic, and there are no constructive solutions to the problems under discussion yet.

THOUGHTS ON RELIABILITY: WHAT STATE IS IT IN TODAY?

Abstract. In the material, published in the June 2024 issue of the journal «Methods of Quality Management», one of the authors of this article (Yu.I. Tarasiev) promised to return to assessing the state of reliability in modern Russia in a separate publication. The proposed article is an attempt to fulfill this promise. If we add up the number of years during which both of its authors have been professionally engaged in reliability issues, the sum will be close to the number 100. It seems that this circumstance gives us the right to express our own views on the state of affairs in the domestic theory and practice of reliability.
